We're not your conventional, run-of-the-mill hardcore corporate couple, although we've been on the work treadmill for the past 16+ years.  Laurel has been the hard core careerist, and Darrin the intense SW Engineer.  We both studied hard, pursued our intellectual passions through graduate degrees, and have done well in our professional endeavors.  But life's not just about work... we like to play too.  We've both had a passion for travel... From an early age, having the dream to move west to California, and from there to see and experience the world.  Darrin's from the midwest, and Laurel's from the east coast...  Met on the job in 1995, and after a long distance relationship from Sydney to Singapore to San Diego, finally married in 2000, and have dedicated vacation time to exploring other countries, and cultures through local people, indigenous art and music, and new shared experiences.  

 

We've had the good fortune to travel together to places like India, Thailand, Brazil, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Fiji, Australia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and a boatload of countries in Europe.  

 

It's been our shared dream to take time off to travel the world, and we're living our dream over the next 14 months.  The two weeks a year American vacation allotment just doesn’t cut it.  So we’ve packed up the house, sold off the cars and rooms of furniture, and packed our remaining belongings in a little metal POD, and off we went on January 7, 2007, to start the adventure.
